14 Fun Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day! (Or Any Other Day You Want To Have Fun!)

Hopefully you had a wonderful Valentine's Day! We always have too many things on our list and usually have to spill over into the next day or two to fit it all in!

Over the years, we have added to the fun, and this is what we have on our list so far!

Many of these things we did this past Valentine's Day, and we're still hoping to add to that because one day is just a bit short for these two bloggers to fit it all in!

Besides, extending a holiday that has chocolate, love, cards and roses involved sounds like a pretty good idea, don't you think?!

1. Make Valentine's Day Cards!

We do this every year and it's hands down one of our favorite Valentine's Day traditions!

They don't have to be the most elaborate creations in the world to be heartfelt and fun to create and send!

Here are the ones we made this year--sooo A-door-able!

2. Put Together Some Sweet Treats to Share!

Whether it's for classmates, friends, neighbors or the mailman, everyone loves a sweet treat Valentine!

A mini package with M&Ms, chocolate kisses or P.B. cups are a fun way to spread some holiday cheer around for the special day!

3. Treat Yourself to Something Sweet!

Go to the special chocolate counter and get the really good chocolates!

We visited our nearby specialty gifts and chocolate shop and always find more than a few decadent bites we want to try!

That little white chocolate critter hiding behind the brittle is a truffle mouse!

We love the look of conversation hearts-- a Valentine's Day classic!

4. Visit the Toy & Game Shop

We like to visit with the shop owner, learn a new game and pick up a special something to enjoy!

Love this chocolate-inspired game that is full of logic and bon-bon looking chocolates!

5. Split a Chocolate Cupcake with cutie heart sprinkles on top!

This year's choice was a Vegan Brownie Cupcake with chocolate fudge frosting on top! Yum!

6. Heart-Shaped Pizzas!

Find that heart-shaped cookie cutter and if you want to make it super easy, you just need three basics:

  • Naan or pre-made pizza shell

  • Pizza sauce or marinara sauce

  • Cheese --mozzarella, cheddar, vegan - whatever you like!

Creating your own heart-shaped pizzas is simple and they always come out looking so cute-and very tasty!

Some topping ideas that go along with the holiday:

  • Red peppers- roasted or fresh

  • Olives - 'Olive You A Lot'!

  • Hot sauce- Make sure it's got a nice bright red hue to it!

7. Play a Game That Goes with the Holiday!

We have the Mystery Date Game and the Chocolate Challenge from above!

8. Decorate!

It doesn't have to be expensive or even that coordinated!

We have dollar-store garlands, window decals, and a gnome that gets a makeover when the holiday changes!

Whatever gets you in the love-bug mood will do!

9. Watch a Fave Movie or Show !

A favorite romantic comedy, I Love Lucy! or anything that warms your heart or puts a glow in your cheeks is the perfect choice!

10. Go For a Walk!

Get outside, enjoy the fresh air and just keep it simple!

If you have some snow, make a heart and take a pic! By the ocean, draw a heart or Xs and Os in the sand!

11. Grab Your Favorite Romantic Read and a cup of cocoa and get cozy! Happily Ever Afters are always nice, especially on Valentine's Day!

12. Make a Valentine's- Themed Playlist!

There are an endless amount of songs about love and romance---pick your faves and put them on your phone or ipod to hear whenever you're in the mood to listen to something special!

While there are pre-set mixes out there, it's also nice to make your own personalized version!

They can be slow songs, jazzy, Disney, whatever sounds good to you! Or, pop on a vintage record for some romantic retro flair!

A few of our favorite Valentine -inspired tunes:

  • L-O-V-E by Natalie Cole

  • So This Is Love from Cinderella

  • Top of the World by Karen Carpenter

  • A Thousand Years by Christina Perri

  • Hopelessly Devoted to You by Olivia Newton-John

  • Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers

  • Fly Me to the Moon by Diana Krall

  • S' Wonderful by Julie London

  • Moon River by Henry Mancini from Breakfast at Tiffany's

13. Add some Valentine's Day style to your outfit before you head out!

It's really quick to add some red and pink to your everyday look-and always turns out festive and fun! Just a hint of hearts or a pop of pink will do the trick!

A pink scrunchie, red sweater or heart necklace are all you need to put a Valentine's spin on your wardrobe!

Headbands, oversize clips or a cute pair of pink sunglasses are also fun ideas-even pink lipgloss!

14. Take a Few Photos to Capture the Day!

Whether it's a photo booth in the mall or a polaroid, snap a couple pics of you and your friends or fun things you did for your Valentine and print them out to keep!

We of course took many pics of the Valentine cards that we made to send out to friends and family!

So, that pretty much sums up what we enjoy doing for Valentine's Day!
